GLCL's mission is to encourage, promote, and celebrate the endeavors of writers, and one of the ways we serve that mission is by hosting writing contests. As often as we can, we partner with regional literary presses or journals, and other literary arts organizations or nonprofits, so that the finalists in our contests not only learn of the impressive literary offerings in Michigan, but also have the opportunity to see their work published or celebrated in art form. It is always our goal to pay writers for their work and expertise; to that end, we try to keep our submission fees low, to offer cash prizes to winners, and to pay honorariums to the judges that read our submissions.
We post information about our own writing contests here, so check back often. And, as a service to writers looking for opportunities to submit their work, we update this page with other calls for submissions from regional small presses, journals, and other literary institutions.
