Ekphrastic Projects – Poetry Inspired by Art
This year the annual summer Poetry and Art Show at Fountain Street Church involves collaboration between the Great Lakes Commonwealth of Letters, Sanctuary Folk Art and the Art Committee for an exhibition of poetry inspired by art.
The Art: The proprietor of Sanctuary Folk Art, a Grand Rapids art gallery, helped representatives of the Art Committee and the Great Lakes Commonwealth of Letters (GLCL) select artwork by several artists he represents. The artwork will be shown in the Keeler Lounge during July and August. Until then the work will be on display at Sanctuary Folk Art, 240 Division Avenue South, Grand Rapids. Poets may see the artwork there or see it in an on-line catalog at http://catalog.indexprojects.org/poetryandartexhibit
The Poetry: In addition to this call to poets of Fountain Street Church, GLCL will announce the project to its members and friends. Poets who wish to be included in the show should submit information using GLCL’s Contact Us form — select the “Literary Submission” drop-down and include your name and email in the form. Paste your poetry into the description box or include it as a Word or PDF document attachment.
- View artwork on-line any time or in person at Sanctuary Folk Art, Tuesday through Saturday, 12 noon to 6 p.m. through June 26th.
